Domestic natural gas transmission

Natural gas transmission in Romania has a long tradition, the first natural gas pipeline in the National Transmission System was commissioned in 1914.

The National Transmission System (NTS) covers the entire national territory and has a radial-ring structure.

Map of the National Natural Gas Transmission System

The National Transmission System is represented by the set of main pipelines, as well as the appurtenant installations, equipment and facilities, used at pressures between 6 bar and 63 bar, through which natural gas extracted from production perimeters or from imports is taken over and transmitted for delivery to participants in the domestic natural gas market, export, international transport, etc.

The natural gas transmission service shall offer network users access to the NTS on the basis of equivalent, non-discriminatory and transparent contractual terms and conditions.

Transport contracts signed with service recipients comply with the regulated framework contract and provide the legal framework for the provision of firm and interruptible transmission services.

Provision of transmission service means all activities and operations carried out for and in connection with the reservation of transmission capacity and the transmission through the NTS of specified quantities of natural gas.

The transmission of the quantities of natural gas is carried out from the commercial delivery/takeover points at the entry to the NTS to the commercial delivery/takeover points at the exit from the NTS, the natural gas necessary to cover the losses in the NTS being the responsibility of Transgaz.
