The Interconnection Strategy of the National Gas Transmission System with the systems of the neighbouring countries was structured in 4 directions, as follows:

• Interconnection with Hungary – Szeged-Arad pipeline
• Interconnection with Bulgaria – Russe-Giurgiu pipeline
• Interconnection with Serbia.

Interconnections meant to diversify the import gas sources:

• Interconnection with Bulgaria – at Negru Voda
• Interconnection with Ukraine – at Siret/Bucecea.

Interconnections meant to develop new storage capacities:

• Interconnection with Moldavia – Margineni storage facility.
