BULGARIA – ROMANIA INTERCONNECTION, IN THE DIRECTION GIURGIU – RUSSE
CURRENT PROJECT STATUS
TRANSGAZ S.A. completed the construction of the interconnection land section, i.e. the Pipeline located between Giurgiu Gas Metering Station (GMS) and the Danube undercrossing point on the Romanian bank and the construction of Giurgiu Gas Metering Station.

Giurgiu Gas Metering Station equipped with state-of-the-art metering technology and instrumentation is meant to secure the European energy strategy for interconnecting the transmission systems of the EU member states by ensuring the metering of the bidirectional gas flows between Romania and Bulgaria.

The Danube undercrossing section is the scope of the cooperation between TRANSGAZ and BULGARTRANSGAZ. The joint Danube undercrossing works are in progress and the commissioning thereof will be in compliance with the validity term of the EC Co-funding Programme.
- Horizontal Directional Drilling Equipment (H.D.D.) -
The Danube undercrossing works are performed based on the Horizontal Directional Drilling procedures and are monitored by relevant wide-world high-performance companies.
